Snails

 Ingredients

1 can/tube crescent rolls

1 bag large (but not jumbo) marshmallows -you will need as many as there are crescent rolls in the package/tube

½ a stick or so of butter -melted

3-4 Tbs cinnamon

Powdered sugar

Water

1 muffin pan
Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 F or the temperature indicated on the crescent roll package’s baking directions.

Roll out crescent roll dough and separate into the triangles. Using a rolling pan or your hands, flatten out the triangles to increase their size by about 1/3.

Take 1 marshmallow and dip it into the melted butter so that it is completely covered. Take the buttered marshmallow and roll it in the cinnamon. Place the cinnamon covered marshmallow in the center of 1 of the crescent triangles. Wrap the crescent roll around the marshmallow making sure to completely cover the marshmallow and not leave any holes or openings. Place the bundle into one of the muffin tin cups. Repeat until all of the crescent triangles are used. Bake accoriding to the instructions on the crescent roll package (typically 11-15 min) or until golden brown.

While the “snails” are baking make a glaze using the powdered sugar and water. Simply put some powdered sugar into a bowl -lets say about ¼ cup and slowly drizzle in and mix water until the glaze is the consistency of a thick syrup. Ooops! Too much water? Noworries -just add more powdered sugar. -it’s that easy!

When snail are done, pour glaze directly over them while they are still in the muffin pan. Let cool and enjoy this super easy, sweet treat!

Oh…when I asked Eneida why they are called snails told me the story of how her grandmother had made them and because of their round shape and coiled up dough, the kids thought they looked like snails. The name stuck!

**for a delicious twist, replace the cinnamon with cocoa powder -or even combine the two! Yummy!
