From celebrity guests to interested college students, the Let Freedom Ring: A Call to Heal a Nation event centered around the repair of an old bell at one of the country’s oldest African American churches. First Baptist Church Williamsburg held the event of inclusion and healing, as the long silent bell made music again. Descendants of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings were included in the ceremony, and Cox 11 was there to help capture and share the story of this important and memorable day.
